Here, we introduce our coffee — grown and decaffeinated in Colombia!
This coffee brings together the Castillo, Caturra, and Colombia varieties, showcasing their distinctive characteristics — bright citrus, gentle sweetness, and notes of nuts and chocolate. These flavours and aromas remain beautifully preserved, even after decaffeination.
The caffeine is removed using the Ethyl Acetate (sugarcane) method, a natural process that combines spring water with Ethyl Acetate derived from sugarcane. The beans are lightly steamed to open their pores, then rinsed to extract caffeine while maintaining their natural structure. The result is a clean, flavourful coffee that retains its original aroma and sweetness — just without the caffeine.
In recognition of this mountain spring water mountain water decaffeination process, and as a tribute to the River Wear — one of the most iconic natural landmarks flowing through Durham — we proudly present Wear Decaf Coffee.
Our Wear Decaf was chosen for its exceptional cup profile, offering wonderful flavour and balance — the perfect coffee to enjoy when you’d rather skip the caffeine.
